The simple construction of the Cambio Barking Machine makes it easy to maintain, and the small number of moving parts reduces wear to a minimum. The principal of Cambio barking is that blunt, individually-tensioned bark tools or abraders are rotated around the log. The compressive force between tool and bark produces shearing forces between the bark and wood which are sufficiently high to overcome the strength of the intermediate sap peel, the so-called cambium layer.
